2025-2026 HIGH SCHOOL INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
Emerald Keepers is an organization dedicated to promoting environmental sustainability and awareness. The internship program offers high school students an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in environmental stewardship, community outreach, and sustainability initiatives.
SCOPE OF WORK
Emerald Keepers is seeking motivated, environmentally minded high school interns to contribute a minimum of 35 hours of work during the school year as described below:
Work in the CHS Emerald Keepers Garden. (Thursday lunch and Saturday morning.)
Attend at least four garden meetings in the Fall and six garden meetings in the Spring.
Volunteer for at least four (4) Emerald Keepers’ event including:
Volunteer for at least four Emerald Keepers events, including:
Beach clean ups (first Saturday of the month, year-round)
Fixit Clinic (March)
Coronado Flower Show Home front judging (March)
Flower Show Booth (April)
Girl Scout World Thinking Day (May)
Prepare and speak at at least one public meeting on an environmental issue of interest (City Council, School Board, etc.)
Propose and implement an intern project
Submit proposal form by September 30, 2025
Provide a written summary after completing your project
REQUIREMENTS
In addition to completing the above volunteer hours, Emerald Keepers interns are required to:
Attend monthly intern meetings held during CHS lunch (meetings do not count toward the intern hours requirement)
Maintain an ongoing log of volunteer hours to be submitted on the last day of each month
Attend at least one Emerald Keepers Board Meeting (held monthly on Monday evenings)
COMMITMENT
By applying for Emerald Keepers’ internship program, interns – if accepted—commit to no less than 35 hours of extra-curricular volunteer work throughout the year as described. In addition to completing the above volunteer hours, Emerald Keepers interns are required to:

ELIGIBIILTY
High school students who attend Coronado High School.
Passionate about environmental conservation and sustainability
Strong academic record and extracurricular involvement
Ability to commit to a yearlong internship
APPLICATION PROCESS
Applications for the 2025-26 school year will be open Aug. 11-Aug. 31. Selected candidates will be invited to interview. Please note, intern bios, personal statements, and headshots will be posted on Emerald Keepers’ website and in press releases.
