Keep Coronado Emerald Green, Ocean Blue!

Our Mission

Emerald Keepers are concerned citizens who work to educate fellow citizens of all ages to develop more sustainable practices for the health of our oceans, our beach community of Coronado, and the world.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.
— Margaret Mead

What We’re doing

  • Educating people about sustainable practices.

  • Working to eliminate single-use plastics and polystyrene.

  • Inviting people to PLEDGE to be Emerald Keepers.

  • Asking restaurants and other businesses to be Emerald Green, Ocean Blue. Look for our signs in business windows around town.

  • Celebrating with the City of Coronado as Mayor Richard Bailey proclaims June as Emerald Green, Ocean Blue!

  • Creating education signs on the summer shuttle, Ferries, and City kiosks.

  • Looking ahead to 2020 — a year of perfect vision (20 - 20) of sustainability, Emerald Keepers are planning a year-long grand celebration with lectures, demonstrations, concerts, films, art, and more — all revolving around our healthy ocean through our care and responsible actions as Emerald Keepers. All will culminate in a 92118-like Day on September 20, 2020. Come together to celebrate the health of our oceans and ocean community!

  • Inviting our youth and community service organizations to join us.

  • Believing that with your help, Coronado can be a model for communities in California and around the globe.
