The Navy needs volunteers to help clear trash on Delta Beach, a stretch of sand on the bay side of Silver Strand just south of the Naval Amphibious Base. The site is designated as a critical habitat for the threatened western snowy plover and the endangered California least tern and is usually closed to human activity. This is an opportunity to take in expansive views of the bay while cleaning up a habitat for vulnerable species and keeping trash out of San Diego Bay to protect marine animals. 

 Meet at the Fiddlers Cove parking lot, which is open to the public. (Head south on state Route 75 for 2.4 miles and make a left turn at the Fiddlers Cove Marina and RV park.)
